Who has bought Standerwick 79?

Mark
Standerwick 79 has been bought by Les Scott of Southport.
Les is also the owner of VRLL Standerwick 60 (LRN60J).
OK, thanks Geoff.
Was that the one that was owned by the Bristol collection at Kemble?
That was complete, but in an all-red livery.
Is he planning to use 79 for parts or is he planning to restore it?
(and does he have a secret stash of windows?!).

Mark
Standerwick 60 was the one which had been at Kemble.

Standerwick 79 is to be a source of spare parts.
The only pieces of glass remaining in 79 are the front destination box, the internal panel behind
the driver and 3 of the sliders - (two offside and one nearside if I remember correctly).
60 is short of two sliders although I dont know from which side(s).

60 is presently undergoing restoration - It is hoped that she will be ready in time to attend our
'Ribble 90' themed event at the Trans Lancs Rally at Heaton Park, Manchester, on 06.09.09.
Will be great to see a mighty VRLL back on the road.
Do you know which livery it will be in?

The plan is to restore it in Standerwick cream and red as 60s so it should look good. This is one advantage of choosing 60 as the restoration candidate rather than 79s which was delivered in allover National white which looked anaemic in comparison to cream and red.

I checked the sliders today - there are two offside and one nearside.
I also had a look at some of the other 'things' removed from 79 in preparation for her departure. These included a small piece of
glass from the driver's cab, the driver's side window and, strangely, two upper deck windows. I say strangely because they are
both etched with the registration number - not PRN79K; they are etched with LRN60J.

15.04.09.

Former Standerwick 79 left Freckleton today for Barnsley.
She is to be stripped of useful parts to be used in the restoration
of (or spares for) sister VRL, 60.

One VRL seen on road under own power today!

LRN60J seen heading westbound in Penistone at 1010 this morning obviously coming from Barnsley with 79's engine now fitted (presumably), it somewhat caught me by surprise given that closing speed was in excess of 70 mph as I was going in the opposite direction.
Pleasingly there was no sign of it coming back so hopefully it made it back to Cheshire/Merseyside/SW Lancs ok.
Having now checked, the vehicle is taxed (exp 31/03/2010) so must have a recent MOT
I think it was Steve Graham driving it with a black BMW in support behind?

Mark
Les Scott, (owner of Standerwick 60), has advised that the repairs to bodywork
and re-painting of 60 has now been completed. Mechanical work continues.
