Happy to be able to report that 1052 passed Class VI MOT test today at the Kirkham
Vehicle Testing station.

1052, a Duple bodied Leyland Leopard, had been new to Ribble in 1974.
It is now preserved and owned by RVPT member Gerard Butler and is undergoing
a full restoration at Busworks, Blackpool.

Philip Higgs of Busworks has very kindly provided the following photographs which
he took today at Wrea Green.

Restoration work is almost completed. There is a final snagging list which should
be cleared within the next couple of weeks.
11.06.09.

1052 was collected from Busworks this-afternoon, following completion of its restoration,
and taken home to Freckleton.

There are a few minor jobs to be done and, hopefully, 1052 will make her debut at the
'Ribble 90' event on the Flag Market in Preston City Centre on 20.06.09.
14.06.09.

The vinyls showing 1052s fleetnames, legal lettering etc
have now been fitted.

This looks an excellent job. A sign of one's age I suppose but seeing restorations of such modern vehicles, in a relatively recent livery, is starting to propel me towards applying for my bus pass.
The Dominant was/is a handsome beast and will probably follow the line of the all-Leyland Royal Tigers, Seagulls, Cavaliers etc. of classic Ribble coaches. How much finer they would have been in red/cream?
On a different topic, I've always marvelled at how preservationists get their hands on vinyls. Did they have the foresight to strip stores of such items, or are they recreated? Would make an interesting articles for "News" me thinks.
The Vinyls were produced and applied by Bolton based Colin Mackay.
He has all the kit required for manufacture and has a large 'library' of wording, names, logos, fonts etc.

He has also produced the vinyls for 2100 and 900.

Send me an e-mail if you want his contact details.
With the SINCEREST apologies to Gerard, I have answered my own question to how 1052 may have looked.
This is a quick photoshop.

An excellent idea to show 1052 in a 'proper' livery. We still have a few days before the Flag Market event so if Gerard likes it......

Naaaaah!!

I think the half and half 'DP' livery that a lot of them carried is much more asthetic (and a lot easier to keep clean)

- I can always come on Saturday (with brush and paint in hand) and provide an interactive restoration demonstration for the people of my birth town (now of course a city)

I'm thinking that that old banger 2057 looks a bit fussy in red & cream & black lining. Howabout poppy red with some nice grey wheels?
Plus 811 was looking a bit tired the last time I saw it. Howabout all-over white with a couple of those NN logos??

So far we haven't had to expel a member but you're getting close.
