Our Exhibition National has been out again, with new a new display which shows many of the Trusts' fleet of vehicles and associated members vehicles.

Today it was at Heaton Park, Manchester. When it is out at an event we get asked many questions, most of which we can answer between us, or phone a friend, go fifty fifty, or ask the audience.
If we cannot answer a question immediately, we endeavour to find the answer and get back to the person asking the question. Today we have had at least eight that need a response. One of which we throw open to the audience is " What was the fleet livery of W.C. Standerwick coaches from 1904 until the Ribble takeover in 1932 ? "
Researching the subject has shown that from 1904 until 1925 W.C. Standerwick used horse drawn Landau, the livery of which would have been black. The Landau's were replaced by motor chara's and which were also painted black. When the the original company was incorporated in 1925 to become W.C.Standerwick Ltd., they were still operating one horse drawn Landau, but photographs of the motor coaches shows from this time that they were now painted in a light colour with a dark roof. This livery remained after the company was purchased by Ribble and others companies in 1932.

In 1935 Ribble purchased 50 TS7 coaches and another 10 TS7 coaches for Standerwick. The Ribble coaches were painted crimson red with cream this was a revese livery to the Standerwick coaches, which were painted in Cream and Red. Ribble subsequently adopted the Standerwick livery for all further coach deliveries.

It would appear that the "Ribble Coach Livery" used until the 1970's was the original livery of W.C.Standerwick Ltd., from 1925.
